We've partnered with a global leader in IoT and connected transportation who's focus is advancing security, connecting commercial vehicles to the internet and providing web-based analytics to help customers better manage their fleets. Their open platform and Marketplace, offering hundreds of third-party solution options, allows both small and large businesses to automate operations by integrating vehicle data with their other data assets. Processing billions of data points a day, they're able to leverage data analytics and machine learning to improve productivity, optimize fleets through the reduction of fuel consumption, enhance driver safety and achieve strong compliance to regulatory changes.

As a Intermediate Software Developer, you understand  the performance impact of clean code, multi-threading, good software design and scalability. You will find reward in building robust software that can function 24/7 with no down time. What you'll do:

The Intermediate Software Developer will be part of a team who builds a state of the art telematics platform that makes sense of the data collected by the custom built hardware. They receive detailed data and metrics for millions of vehicles and devices globally, which is processed and interpreted to create actionable information for their customers. You will write high performance C# code to process and store this information in real-time.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Define, listen and contribute to design discussions and make detailed notes and documenting requirements and technical design.

  • Perform quality assurance by doing peer review, ensuring coding standards are followed, looking for logic errors and other bugs.

  • Analyze call stacks, trace files, performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.

  • Participate in development of prototypes and proofs of concept.

  • Write quality, in-depth software  in a variety of programming languages and environments.

  • Provide assistance to our support staff and resellers from a technical perspective. This may be in the form of on-call or ad-hoc questions relating to how certain features work or verifying the behaviour by reviewing code.

  • Research new language features, frameworks and other relevant technologies and offer recommendations.

  • Assist in defining best practices to be used in the team.
     

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Electrical or Software Engineering or other related degree.

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant working experience.

  • Excellent understanding of object-orientated or functional programming (we use C#) and SOLID principles.

  • Experience with Unit test frameworks (xUnit, NUnit) and Mocking.

  • Knowledge of front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML, ES6, jQuery) and JavaScript frameworks(e.g. Angular, React, Node.js, Vue.js) and experience with UI/UX design.

  • Experience with SQL database design, optimization and writing queries.

  • Working knowledge of web services including REST and MVC.

  • Working knowledge with Git and Jira is preferred.

  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
     

Bonus if you have:

  • Cloud computing experience with GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure.

  • Docker, Kubernetes.

  • Messaging queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or Google Pub/Sub.
