Sr Embedded Systems Test Engineer

Ottawa, Ontario

Our client is a leader in the mobility industry with its patented fault tolerant distributed computing solution. The company is rapidly scaling, and is looking for an experienced system level embedded test developer for its Ottawa location. You will work within a creative team to implement automation solutions to a new and challenging paradigm. 

Responsibilities:

  • In this position, you will be responsible for building out the early infrastructure, testing processes, and documentation for a new division within the organization
  • Work within a team of smart and talented people to develop and deliver innovative automated solutions
  • Implement, design and test automated systems using modern languages, tools and methods
  • Create and assemble test benches for new hardware components
  • Validate hardware functionalities and limits with basic and environment stress tests
  • Share ideas for innovation and process improvements
  • Develop metrics to ensure quality goals are met or exceeded

Requirements: 

  • 5+ years of work experience within an embedded environment and proficiency in Python scripting
  • Experience with RTOS (QNX or VxWorks is ideal)
  • A self-starter with drive, curiosity and passion to push the boundaries
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/software engineering/electrical engineering or mathematics
  • Experience with Git source control management
  • Experience with real-time embedded software development
  • Manual testing experience, and comfortable to work in a lab environment

  • Work with engineers to ensure maximum coverage and risk-based testing
  • Automation and test fixture design, and strong coding ability
  • Strong ability for troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An eagerness to learn and solve problems
  • Generating key metrics to enable informed decisions on tests and automation
     

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with ruggedized embedded systems
  • MCU expresso or equivalent
  • Experience with network, CAN bus, TCP/IP, etc. 
  • Low level debugging experience
  • Experience in the automotive industry or mil-aero
  • Development with Python
