Technical Release manager
We have partnered with a recognized brand in Canada to help in the search for a Technical Release Manager for an 18-month remote contract based either in Toronto or Ottawa.
Scope:
Release manager will be responsible for release management lifecycle (development, test and into production environments), including scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for multiple environments and applications on the Experience Transformation Program.
You will define and drive release standards, processes, focus on continuous improvement while ensuring a stable implementation into both non-production and production environments. Responsible for assessing risk, interdependencies, and impact to existing and new service solutions. Coordinate communications regarding implementations such as service interruptions to business. Individuals who have proven to be self-starters and trail blazers will be successful in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Planning release windows and the overall release lifecycle across portfolios
- Understanding business strategy, IT priorities and project functionality to recommend appropriate project release bundling, timing and schedule
- Communicates key release and project details to both the business and technical teams
- Ensures corporate standards and deliverables are met. i.e. Centers of Expertise (COEs)
- Delivery Operating Model (iDOM) requirements
- Manage and coordinate non-production environment usage in support of release cycles
- Analyzes environment and data requirements to ensure all required infrastructure can be made available within required timelines
- Proactively plans and manages disparate technology team releases; resolves release / environment and data conflicts through reprioritization
- Participates and/or leads release readiness reviews, business Go/No-Go reviews, CAB meetings
- Lead and co-ordinate Go-Live activities such as building and the execution of implementation plans and checklists
- Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
Must Have Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in IT delivery
- Exposure with IT Release Management
- Technical leadership and proven ability to mentor your peers
- Intermediate to Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills
Nice to have Skills:
- Experience in IT Release Management
- Experience in large scale IT projects including cross-functional components from software to middleware and infrastructure
- An understanding of code development constructs such as automated build, code merging and branching strategies, automated testing and reporting and process flow control
- Experience with Agile methodologies
Education and Certifications:
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, college diploma in computer science or equivalent experience (required)
- Certifications: ITIL foundations (Asset), PMP or equivalent (Asset).
