Cyber Security Engineer 


Location: Fully Remote


We are working with an exciting Fintech client that has been a leader in their industry for the past 100 years. They are leading the way in digital innovation for the industry and it’s an exciting time to join!  We have partnered with them on a search for a Cyber Security Engineer who will be responsible for leading a variety of high impact, mission critical IT security processes, procedures and practices to support business needs.

The Role:
  • Develop and implement security process controls for cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS and Azure.
  • Lead Incident Response Team with SIEM engineering tasks.
  • Evaluate new technologies and services in order to solve complex security issues.
  •  Perform design reviews and risk assessments for new production instances and configurations
  • Provide guidance and leadership on security architecture and compliance matters for business and IT projects; assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as SOX, PCI, PIPEDA, etc
  • Perform risk analysis on various systems; review and recommend processes to improve identity and access management
  • Assists the Infrastructure and Operations teams in patch management activities
  • Participate in information technology and security reviews and audits in cooperation with the Audit and Compliance teams
  • Provide input on the technical direction and new technology adoption within the Enterprise Security team
  • Develop tools, writing scripts, and automation of processes to assist with routine tasks; provide input into the enhancement, streamlining, and improvement of technology and processes to improve team effectiveness and efficiency
  • Remain current on new and emerging attacks, vulnerabilities and overall security trends; share learnings with team members
  • Act in a mentoring capacity to share knowledge and provide education to IT Teams such as Development, Infrastructure and operations.
  •  Assist in the development and maintenance of KRI’s and KPI’s in support of the Enterprise Security Program.
  • Review and provide input to facilitate the continuous improvement of security practices.
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of new and existing IT security policies and standards. ● Provide leadership in planning, implementation, monitoring and upgrading of security measures for the protection of data, systems and networks.

The Responsibilities:
  • College diploma, university degree or equivalent work experience, with courses in network technologies, operating systems, scripting, programming, algorithms and related technologies.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, GSEC preferred
  • 3+ years working experience as an IT Security Professional or related field
  • Strong technical knowledge of enterprise cloud infrastructure security, application security, Penetration Testing, DevSecOps, Enterprise Firewalls, IDS, IPS, VPN, SIEM, Risk Management.
  • Technical ability to identify security threats and provide guidance to appropriate leadership to ensure the implementation of mitigating controls.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with individuals with varying levels of technical understanding at all levels of the organization.
  • A desire to influence positive change and the ability to work effectively with leadership to contribute to the development of enterprise-wide security strategy.
