We have partnered with a recognized leader in Canadian fintech to search for a Cloud Data Architect. This role will focus on working directly with the Enterprise Architecture, Data Science, CloudOps and Security teams to modernize the Data Management practice. The right person for this role is passionate about challenging the status quo and is interested in creating innovative solutions to next-gen data related obstacles.
The Challenge: 
  • Define and document data architecture components
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on defining overall solution architecture
  • Collaborate on the definition and execution of the data management strategy and data governance program
  • Architect Cloud Data Warehouse environment to support existing BI and reporting solutions
  • Architect Machine Learning development environment for compute and storage requirements
  • Analyze data requirements for new software and applications
  • Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
  • Data Modelling and data architecture documentation
  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
  • Optimize new and current data systems
  • Data security and backup procedures
  • Coordinate with the Data Science department to identify future needs and requirements
  • Coordinate and participate in business peer and stakeholder meetings and solution design sessions to collaborate effectively and assist in guiding the discussion on data architecture
  • Define and recommend data security and backup procedures, working with Enterprise Security Team and within existing policy mandates and boundaries
  • Design, coordinate and execute pilots, prototypes or proof of concepts for new and emerging data technologies
  • Design conceptual and logical data models, data flow diagrams and flowcharts
  • Review project proposals to ensure appropriate data architecture 
  • Design and develop data storage solutions to store and retrieve company information
What you bring: 
  • 5-10 years of combined experience in the software/data & analytics space
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all business units to ensure alignment with their business objectives
  • Ability to work and provide leadership within an agile work environment
  • Ability to define, implement and manage multiple priorities 
  • Experience with a wide variety of BI tools such as Cognos, Microsoft Power BI, TIBCO Spotfire and Tableau
  • Experience with Big Data and Data Science technology and implementations
  • Cloud services certifications are considered a strong asset. E.g., Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure
  • Strong collaboration, communication and leadership skills
